The original was made in 1893 by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
The comedian Albert Caudieux, who commissioned this poster, performed at the Petit Casino on rue de Clichy in Paris. Lautrec depicts the him in full stage make up in a composition which is reminiscent of his poster for Jane Avril from the same year.
